On the afternoon of April 29, 2006, the Woonsocket Fire Department was notified of a mill on fire on Villanova Avenue. The mill, approximately 5 blocks from fire headquarters, was well involed and spreading quickly. A General Alarm was immediately requested, bringing all on and off duty Woonsocket firefighters to the scene. Mutual aid from numerous departments responded as well. The fire communicated to a few nearby homes before being controlled.
