Around 830 on the morning of March 28, 2007, both the Pawtucket and Central Falls Fire Departments began receiving calls for mill fire on Conant Street. The mill is located right on the city line. As Pawtucket crews were pulling out of their stations, they reported seeing the fire and smoke in the sky and requested additional alarms. On arrival, the found the top floor of a 100x400 mill fully involved with exposure problems. Crews attempted an interior attack but were quickly withdrawn and went defensive. Amazingly, they had the heavy fire knocked down within 30 minutes but would remain on the scene well into the night chasing hot spots.
