Around 10AM, on October 13, 2007, Battalion 9 picked up from a fire and was immediately sent to the 14500 block of Evanston for a dwelling fire. The box chief 9 picked up from was about 10 blocks from this fire and he arrived to find a vacant dwelling with smoke showing. Companies were coming from a distance, as the normally assinged companies were still operating at the first fire. Engine 50 arrived first and stretched in. Ladder 19 and Squad 3 arrived shortly after.
We were just taking up from the first fire when this one went out. We put the address in the GPS and it immediatley said we had arrived at out destination. We looked up and saw Evanston. We arrived before Battalion 9 and found heavy smoke coming from the house.
