On the afternoon of January 16, 2008, the Bronx put out a phone alarm for a fire in a junk yard at Longfellow and East Bay Road, in the Hunts Point section of the borough. On arrival, Ladder 48 transmitted a 10-75 for numerous calls on fire in the junk yard. The officer requested a tower ladder to be added to the box and Ladder 31 responded. On the arrival of Battalion 3, an extra tower ladder was requested and Tower Ladder 54 was sent. Companies used the two tower ladders and several large lines to extinguish the fire.
