Around 3PM, on the afternoon of February 25, 2008 Queens firefighters responded to 183-48 Babylon Avenue, off Jamaica Ave for a structural fire. Shortly after, a second source was received and box 5043 was transmitted. A 10-75 was transmitted on arrival for heavy fire showing from an occupied 1.5 story PD. One occupant was reportedly trapped inside as firefighters entered the building. A second alarm was transmitted by Battalion 51, as well as a 10-45 for the female that was located by firefighters. After the victim was removed from the building, all units were ordered out and an outside attack began. Two firefighters were injured battling the fire and unfortunately, the woman, located by firefighters, was killed by the intense fire. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
