For the second time in several hours, Providence firefighters responded to 36 Sumter Street for a building fire. The second time, Engine 10 arrived to find heavy fire showing from the second and third floors of the house. Companies quickly stretched lines in attempt to knock the fire down. As fire broke through the roof, Battalion 2 transmitted a second alarm and ordered the two tower ladders to set up for outside operations. Interior companies began to get a hold on the fire and the outside attack was never needed. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
