On the morning of February 1st, 2020, the West Warwick Fire Department responded to the master box at the Westcott Terrace Apartments, located at 319 Providence Street. On arrival, Engine 3 reported nothing showing. Once inside, they discovered a bedroom fire, being controlled by the sprinkler system. The fire was knocked down by the sprinkler but a heavy smoke condition persisted, as well as large amounts of water accumulating on the fire floor and raining down to the floor below. Firefighters were able to shut the water down and were in the process of water removal. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
